Position Overview

Sara Software Systems is seeking a highly skilled Chief Technology Officer to lead our technology strategy and execution. As a key member of the executive team, the CTO will drive the technological direction of the company, oversee the development and deployment of cutting-edge solutions, and ensure that technology aligns with our overall business goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the company’s technology strategy in alignment with its business objectives.
  • Lead and mentor the engineering and IT teams; foster a culture of innovation, performance, and collaboration.
  • Oversee all system design and changes in system architecture.
  • Evaluate and implement new systems and infrastructure to improve company performance.
  • Manage software development lifecycle, including research, development, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Establish technical standards and ensure adherence to them across teams and products.
  • Collaborate with product, operations, and business leadership to deliver high-quality solutions on time and within budget.
  • Stay on top of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to guide the company’s technological future.
  • Ensure security, scalability, and sustainability in all technological operations.
  • Represent the company in strategic technology partnerships and at industry events.
  • Lead solutioning for proposal development.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a CTO, VP of Engineering, or in a similar leadership role.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, IT, or technology strategy.
  • Strong background in software architecture, systems integration, cloud computing, and product development.
  • 10+ years of experience working with Federal government clients.
  • Hands-on experience with modern tech stacks, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and DevOps practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (MBA or MS in Computer Science or related field).
  • Experience scaling technology in a startup or high-growth environment.
  • Deep understanding of data security, compliance, and risk management.
  • Previous experience working in related work management.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML, blockchain, or other emerging technologies.
  • Ability to lead and grow teams.

Software Developer, Sara Software Systems LLC, Olathe,KS

Duties:

  • Develop and implement Microsoft .NET or Java EE and SQL as specified in technical specifications/software design documentation.
  • Develop web services using Web API and plugins for core applications.
  • Implement client-side scripting using JavaScript and jQuery.
  • Document all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Maintain stability and performance of platforms built on Microsoft .NET or Spring/Spring Boot and Microsoft SQL.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, implement short-term break/fix solutions, and support continuous improvement using .NET or Java technologies and SQL.
  • Provide unit testing requirements and assist QA with testing deliverables.
  • Deliver software solutions for internal users or external clients, following coding and organizational standards and delivery timelines.
  • Collaborate with Project Management to estimate project modifications.
  • Work with version control tools such as Git, SVN, and Mercury.
  • Write clean, readable, and maintainable code.

Requires:

  • Education:
    • Master’s degree in Engineering Management, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field + 2 years of experience, or
    • Bachelor’s degree in the same fields + 4 years of experience.
  • Related Experience Must Include:
    • Software and Database Development Work.
    • Experience with .NET or Java EE, SharePoint 2013, TFS, J2EE, Java, Oracle, MS SQL Server 2016, MS Access.
    • Knowledge of EPLC, SDLC, and Microsoft Azure DevOps Server technology.
    • Agency Information Security practices, FISMA, NIST security controls.
    • Understanding of Section 508 standards.
    • Technical vulnerability analysis, including web app scanning and network/host-based scanning for ATO, IATT, and ad hoc readiness.
  • Up to 10% travel required.
  • Telecommuting permitted within reasonable distance of Olathe, Kansas Sara Software Systems office.
